Brunel are exclusively partnered with a Leading Australian Gold Miner to recruit a Project Manager (Surface) for their Expansion Project in Cowal, NSW. This is a permanent position and an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s largest Gold Projects in the last 15 years!

We are seeking a dynamic leader and as the Project Manager (Surface) you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of surface works package through early works, execution and commissioning. Project reporting and surveillance of cost and schedule to ensure that the package of work is within HSEC, schedule, cost, risk and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Identification of all Business User Requirements for the package including Operational Readiness, Optimisation of all Technical Solutions for the Mine, Plant, Non-Processing Infrastructure
  • Act as the “point of contact” between the EPCM and the existing operating facilities to ensure minimal disruption to both operations and construction activities
  • Control of project scope and deliverables including change control management
  • Monitoring and control of project schedule and cost
  • Ensure project requirements (safely/timely/budget/people/quality/etc) are consistently communicated and implemented in a timely manner to relevant operations clients, EPCM, contract personnel and any other external project stakeholders
  • With the Senior Project Engineers, control of project cost budget ensuring package is completed within the approved budget
  • Implement quality requirements and improvements in project ensuring deliverables will satisfy the objectives
  • Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout
  • Review the planned, actual and forecast resource levels for the EPCM and consultants and challenge the contractor on this where necessary
  • Manage timely and appropriate generation and distribution of project information via formal structures and processes
  • Identification, analysis and mitigation of potential risk events including maintenance of risk register and initiation of corrective action when required
  • Management of procurement process for project including effective acquisition of goods and services and contract management
  • Identification and selection of appropriate technology solutions including detailed engineering management
  • Oversees the management of pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities undertaken to bring project scope into production including provision of support to functional managers during start up
  • Implementation of appropriate systems and technology to support project controls including safety management, engineering design, document control, scheduling, resource management, financial management and reporting

Requirements

  • Multi-Disciplinary Project Management experienced in brownfield heavy industrial projects, ideally with significant career time on the owners’ side
  • EPCM and Owner Delivery project management experience for capital projects >$300m CAPEX
  • Clear track record of completing projects through to practical completion and commissioning in an operational environment
  • Over 10 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry project management
  • Ability to present with confidence to senior management and significant stakeholders on the project strategy, forward plan and business case performance for the package.
  • Proven in delivering large scale mining projects from the owners’ side perspective and that has worked across Brownfield and Greenfield project environments in projects of a similar size (by CAPEX)
  • Collaborative and engaging leader, to achieve a balance between technical and commercial outcomes
  • Able to lead with vision and to translate this across all stakeholders and levels of the workforce into on-ground project delivery
  • A values-based leader that seeks out organisations that care about results, that operate with flat executive and management structures and that value moving through major projects with entrepreneurialism and predictability
