We’re hiring a BioProcess Development Specialist for our client, a large pharmaceutical company. This opportunity is a one-year contract based in Toronto ON.

  • Responsible for specific scientific, technical and compliance aspects of assigned project, ensure that objectives are met.
  • Plan and execute product development activities
  • Keep abreast of developments in relevant scientific/technical disciplines and apply when possible.
  • Share information and harmonize development within BRD, and other departments
  • Prepare internal and external presentation, patent filings, and research manuscripts as required.
  • Work with the policies, procedures and regulations are required by the company and under Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Development of purification processes for vaccine candidate. The process scale could arrange from 2L bioreactor scale to 200L bioreactor scale, and the purification process developed with targeted quality, yield and scalability requirement. The purification development needs to be transferable to clinical manufacturing platform for clinical trial material production.
  • Use of analytical methods for measuring purity, quality and process yield by assays such as protein content, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, HPLC, LAL et al. Development of appropriate in-process testing for the purification process development if needed.
  • Support for GMP manufacturing including process technology transfer, equipment selection and validation, process flows, vendor and raw materials selection, and process trouble shooting as required.

Requirements

  • MSc (Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry) with 2+ years’ experience, or BSc (Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry) with 5+ years’ hands-on experience, in protein purification, or vaccine development or relevant field.
  • In-depth knowledge of protein purification, primary recovery processes and process analytical technology.
  • Working knowledge of microbiology, biochemistry, chemical engineering principles,
  • In-depth knowledge of experimental design, execution and data analysis.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experiences in membrane protein purification are assets.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experiences with high throughput purification development (HTPD), such as Tecan or similar equipment are assets.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experiences in HPLC/UPLC and Octet are assets.
