Emergency Department Clinical Specialist Toronto, Ontario (50% Travel Requirement)

Responsibilities

  • Support the sales process by providing technical and clinical expertise on diagnostic products, including configurations, applications, and integrations
  • Serve as the key technical interface between customers and internal teams such as engineering, R&D, medical affairs, and program management
  • Partner with account managers to position solutions within emergency departments, demonstrating clinical and operational value
  • Engage with hospital stakeholders including ED leadership, nursing leadership, physicians, and laboratory teams to understand clinical and workflow requirements
  • Analyze current emergency department workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, turnaround time, and patient outcomes
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and workflow analyses tailored to customer environments
  • Develop recommendations based on customer data, including cost optimization and process improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to technical components of proposals, including specifications, pricing considerations, and contract requirements
  • Support pipeline visibility through input into forecasting and opportunity tracking
  • Collaborate with customers to identify potential new applications or enhancements based on real-world use
  • Travel to customer sites regularly to support engagements and implementations (approximately 50%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant medical or life sciences field preferred
  • 6-10 years of experience in a related clinical, technical, or healthcare commercial environment
  • Experience supporting complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and technical products
  • Strong understanding of hospital workflows, ideally within emergency or acute care settings
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations (operational and financial)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present to senior and executive-level stakeholders
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build effective cross-functional relationships
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Bilingual (English and French) is preferred
  • Lean/Six Sigma or experience with process improvement methodologies is considered an asset
