Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Lead to support the environmental planning, compliance, and execution of a major capital project within a highly regulated industrial environment. Reporting to the HSSE leadership team, this role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental programs throughout construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental management programs and field initiatives.
  • Provide environmental leadership and support to construction, commissioning, and start-up teams.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and project-specific environmental permits, management plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage environmental monitoring, reporting, verification, and compliance programs.
  • Manage environmental consultants and contractors supporting monitoring, remediation, wildlife protection, and habitat management activities.
  • Support environmental incident investigations, reporting requirements, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with regulators, authorities, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance and effective stewardship.
  • Oversee environmental aspects of complex marine and civil construction scopes, ensuring quality, schedule, cost, and compliance objectives are achieved.
  • Manage contractor performance and multidisciplinary stakeholder interfaces.
  • Lead environmental audits, assurance activities, and lessons learned initiatives.
  • Support the development and execution of spill prevention, mitigation, and response programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Qualified Environmental Professional (or equivalent designation) considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive environmental experience supporting industrial, energy, infrastructure, or major capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, monitoring, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, and environmental programs throughout project execution.
  • Demonstrated success working within large, multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes, drive execution, and manage change in complex environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, risk management, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
