- Perform pre- and post-application inspections of surface preparation, coatings (primer, intermediate, topcoat) and insulation systems.
- Verify coatings/insulation materials, batch numbers and storage/handling per project material data sheets (MDS) and manufacturer instructions.
- Measure surface cleanliness (e.g., SSPC/NACE standards), profile, thickness (dry film thickness), and adhesion; record results and non-conformances.
- Monitor application conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) and ensure corrective actions when parameters are out of range.
- Inspect insulation installation for correct material, thickness, jointing, cladding and vapour barrier integrity.
- Witness and document tests: holiday detection, adhesion tests, DFT readings, and insulation density/void checks as required.
- Diploma or degree in Materials, Engineering, NDT, or related field preferred; coatings/insulation technical certifications advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in coatings and insulation inspection in offshore oil & gas (FPSO/FLNG/rig) projects.
- Knowledge of relevant standards (SSPC, NACE, ISO, API) and common coating/insulation systems used offshore.
- Proficient with inspection instruments (DFT gauge, holiday detector, surface profile gauges, hygrometers) and inspection reporting.
