Job Summary The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs across a large-scale industrial construction project. This role ensures compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture through field engagement, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and support health and safety projects and initiatives.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
- Provide health and safety guidance to construction, maintenance, and operations teams during project execution.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and employee engagement.
- Prepare safety reports, maintain documentation, and communicate findings and recommendations to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience leading health and safety initiatives within heavy industrial, construction, mining, oil & gas, or large capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and applicable health and safety regulations.
- Experience conducting audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
