Brunel Energy is recruiting a Project Controls Engineer to support a major data center company on a long-term contract based in Houston, TX. This role requires travel to the project site twice a week.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to support the Train 2 & 3 Project by managing cost reporting, forecasting, and project performance analysis. This is a back-office role focused on compiling, validating, and analyzing project cost data to support accurate reporting, forecasting, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain cost reports for the next two construction phases of the project using advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Compile, validate, and reconcile cost data received from the Joint Venture EPC team.
- Analyze project costs, labor rates, earned value, and forecasting data to identify trends, risks, and cost variances.
- Develop and distribute recurring cost reports and performance dashboards for project leadership.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of project cost data and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Controls and Joint Venture EPC teams to support cost forecasting, performance analysis, and reporting activities.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Project Controls or Cost Controls on large capital projects within EPC, LNG, refinery, petrochemical, industrial, or heavy construction environments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to quickly learn and navigate complex workbooks.
- Strong understanding of cost reporting, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM), cost control, and project performance metrics.
- Experience working with project cost management systems and interpreting project financial data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present cost analysis and reporting clearly to project stakeholders.
