We are partnering with a global oil & gas business to source an experienced Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor for a long-term project-based opportunity in Perth.
This role will support cultural heritage outcomes across a complex, multi-disciplinary oil and gas project environment. You must have current right to work in Australia to considered for this role.
Working closely with Traditional Owner groups, project teams, environmental specialists, regulatory stakeholders and operational teams, the position will help ensure cultural heritage considerations are appropriately integrated into planning, approvals, compliance and project delivery activities.
The position is offered as a 2-year contract, based in Perth, with occasional regional travel required. The role is Monday to Friday, with the option of a compressed working week.
About the Role
As Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of cultural heritage management activities across a major project scope. You will play a key role in ensuring heritage requirements are considered throughout project planning, land access, approvals and operational execution.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning, scoping and coordinating cultural heritage survey programs
- Supporting logistics, scheduling and Traditional Owner participation in field surveys
- Reviewing heritage survey data, reports and associated documentation
- Managing and maintaining heritage and spatial data systems, including GIS platforms
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with Traditional Owner groups and representatives
- Supporting co-design and implementation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans
- Providing heritage advice for land disturbance, project planning and execution activities
- Identifying and managing heritage-related risks, constraints and commitments
- Supporting heritage inputs into approvals, regulatory submissions and compliance documentation
- Tracking heritage commitments associated with approvals and project activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement of heritage processes, systems, tools and templates
- Supporting training, guidance and consistent ways of working across internal teams
We are looking for a collaborative, organised and adaptable cultural heritage professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a practical approach to problem solving.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage management within mining, energy, infrastructure or a similar project environment
- Experience operating at senior advisor level or equivalent
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including experience working closely with Traditional Owner groups
- Sound cross-cultural awareness and the ability to support respectful, transparent engagement practices
- Experience coordinating cultural heritage surveys and field programs
- Working knowledge of WA and Commonwealth cultural heritage legislation and approvals processes
- Ability to manage complex scopes, competing priorities and multiple stakeholders
- Experience supporting project approvals, compliance obligations and heritage management plans
- Experience using GIS and heritage data management systems
- Tertiary qualifications in Archaeology, Anthropology, Environmental Science, Planning, Land Management or a related discipline
