An excellent opportunity exists for a Production Superintendent, or an existing Alternate/Deputy Open Pit Manager, to join a well-established gold operation in Western Australia. This permanent position offers strong exposure to gold mining operations.
You will be fully empowered to make operational decisions, lead production, and drive safety outcomes when the Open Pit Manager is off‑swing.
- Act as the accountable Open Pit Manager on an alternate 8:6 roster, ensuring continuous, high-quality leadership coverage across all operational shifts.
- Lead daily production meetings, allocate mining fleet and resources, and monitor real-time execution against the weekly mine plan.
- Make autonomous, on‑the‑ground decisions regarding dig limits, grade control, stockpile movements, and haul road allocation when the primary Open Pit Manager is off‑swing.
- Exercise SSE (Site Senior Executive) or acting SSE responsibilities, including statutory inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
- Lead or participate in safety interactions, critical control verifications, and weekly hazard hunts.
- Oversee drill and blast design, scheduling, and execution to achieve optimal fragmentation, dilution control, and muckpile profile.
- Manage productivity tracking for loaders, excavators, and haul trucks; identify and action bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Own quarterly cost centres including drill & blast, load & haul, dewatering, and ancillary services.
- Complete end‑of‑shift and end‑of‑swing reports including production actuals, safety incidents, equipment status, and any unplanned events.
- Strong open pit mining experience
- Mining Engineering degree (W.A. recognised)
- Considerable experience in open pit mining (gold experience highly regarded)
- SSE capability - statutory requirements, ready to act as nominated SSE or working towards it
- Drill & Blast experience across design, scheduling, execution.
- Experience with fleet management, productivity tracking, haulage optimisation
- Budget management expertise
- Software proficiency - Deswik (essential) and Pronto (desirable)
